Things to know about AUTO Insurance:
BIPD OR Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD)
This is the most important part of your Auto Coverage! This is Liability Coverage
for injuries that you cause to other people and/or property damage for which you are at fault.
This coverage is almost always shown in a 3-number-split such as 250/500/500.
These numbers represent Thousands of Dollars.
So the coverage is actually: $250,000/$500,000/$500,000
The first number is the limit of insurance that your auto policy will pay for bodily injury per person in the event
of an accident. The second number is the total limit of insurance your auto policy will pay for bodily injury to
multiple persons per accident. The third number is the limit of insurance that your policy will pay for property
damage per accident.
Over the past few years, many people have become overwhelmed by the “Discount Insurance” hype.
Many of those people are underinsured today. The rising costs of vehicles, and the high personal injury
awards in lawsuits have made it very easy to exceed your BIPD limits!
Please contact us to set up a free consultation to ensure that you have
adequatecoverage. We’ll be happy to help you!
Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist
This is the second most important part of your auto Coverage.
This coverage does exactly what the name implies; it provides coverage for you when someone who is
Uninsured/Underinsured injures you.
Uninsured refers to a driver that does not carry any insurance at all. According to a recent survey by the
California Department of Motor Vehicles 4 out of 10 Drivers in California is Uninsured. Underinsured refers to
a driver that does not have adequate limits of coverage.
This coverage is often overlooked, but it is important to us that you protect
yourself and your family. We would be happy to help you determine how
much of this coverage is adequate for your individual situation!
Collision
This coverage is often shown as the deductible amount on your insurance
policy. Usually: 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, or 2500.
Deductible: This is the amount you must pay, before the insurance kicks into effect.
The higher your deductible limits, or out of pocket money, the lower your overall premium will be.
Collision covers the cost of replacing or repairing your vehicle in the event of an accident in which
you were at fault.
Choosing an appropriate deductible is important, so that you are not paying too much in premium, or out-of
pocket money in the event of an accident. We would be happy to help you decide what Deductible is right for
you!
Comprehensive
This is a very important coverage to protect your vehicle from uncontrollable misfortunes. Collision covers the
cost of repairing or replacing your vehicle in non-accident, non-collision, situations. Theft, Vandalism, Hail,
Falling Objects such as trees, and other "acts of God" are covered, by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage is usually shown as the deductible amount on your policy, and typically is
the same as your collision deductible.
